Each residence at Domaine has been meticulously crafted to embody timeless architecture and enduring materiality.
Each residence at Domaine has been meticulously crafted to embody timeless architecture and enduring materiality. Solid concrete construction anchors the homes in strength and stillness, while slender bespoke brickwork and steel-framed windows evoke a refined European sensibility. An architectural oculus crowns the upper level, a sculptural gesture that draws light inward and acknowledges the character of the surrounding precinct.
The composition is elegantly restrained, defined by proportion, light, and texture rather than ornamentation. Inside, high ceilings, expansive glazing and natural materials create a sense of calm generosity. Every detail from Artedomus Elba stone to Jack Merlo’s landscape design, has been chosen to age with beauty and integrity.
Individual homes with secure private entrances, lush landscaping, and thoughtfully integrated 7-star sustainability.
Each home is crafted for enduring comfort and efficiency, featuring solar power, provision for EV charging, and hydronic heating that delivers gentle, consistent warmth throughout the seasons. Highly efficient hydronic slab heating and cooling further elevates thermal performance, ensuring a stable indoor climate with reduced energy use. Passive design principles maximise natural light and ventilation, creating interiors that feel balanced and temperate year-round.
With spacious double garages and no basement, life unfolds seamlessly and without compromise. This is effortless living in its most sophisticated form.
Domaine embodies a considered approach to modern living—where environmental intelligence enhances wellbeing, and luxury is defined as much by comfort as by craftsmanship.
From the Architect
For over thirty years, my practice has been dedicated to crafting homes that are as individual as the people who inhabit them. Domaine represents the culmination of this journey — a collection of six homes that reinterpret Melbourne’s historic row house in a contemporary, highly refined form.
From the outset, our intention was clear: to create residences where privacy, autonomy, and elegance coexist. Neighbours live adjacent, yet each home is entirely self-contained. Shared lifts and underground carparks were consciously avoided, replaced instead with generous, landscaped street frontages, side-by-side garages, and thoughtfully composed interior flows.
The architectural language draws on the timeless elegance of French Deco, reinterpreted for contemporary living. Steel-framed windows frame carefully composed views; stone-clad brickwork and subtly curved forms convey solidity, tactility, and quiet sophistication.
The full concrete structure underpins the homes with permanence, energy efficiency, and acoustic serenity.
Internally, the homes are layered for living and entertaining. Upper levels celebrate Melbourne’s most cherished vistas, while carefully conceived zones allow families or couples to move seamlessly between togetherness and solitude. The crowning floor is an open, elevated setting for gatherings — complete with terrace, bar, and BBQ — yet an open fire beneath a sculptural oculus transforms it into an intimate winter retreat.
Every design decision was made with longevity in mind. The material palette, architectural proportions, and structural integrity ensure that Domaine is not only relevant today but will endure gracefully for generations, both as architecture and as lived experience.

Living & Entertaining —
Where living comes alive
The living spaces at Domaine are designed to breathe—expansive, light-filled and intuitively arranged for contemporary living. Two distinct living areas provide flexibility and balance, from quiet retreat to effortless entertaining. Individual private lifts connect every level, ensuring ease and independence for years to come, while allowing guests to arrive directly into the upper living spaces, preserving the privacy of the bedrooms below.
East-facing master suites welcome soft morning light, and upper terraces capture views across the heritage rooftops—imbuing a quiet sense of European charm. The rooftop level, complete with a Cheminees Philippe fireplace, bespoke bar and dedicated servery with wine and beverage fridges, offers the perfect setting for evenings beneath the sky.
Framed by Jack Merlo’s landscape design, these are spaces not just to inhabit, but to savour—crafted for those who understand that true luxury lies in the freedom to live beautifully.
Kitchen —
A space to inspire
In the kitchen, form and function converge in a space designed for both culinary excellence and effortless entertaining. Gaggenau and Liebherr appliances deliver precision and performance, while the natural beauty of honed stone and finely crafted joinery reflects a commitment to quality and permanence.
A full-sized butler’s pantry, complete with a secondary dishwasher and large sink, keeps preparation and clean-up discreetly out of sight—maintaining the calm elegance of the main kitchen and living area. A dedicated servery to the balcony enhances the flow between indoor and outdoor dining, making entertaining both seamless and refined.
The kitchen is not only a showpiece, but a space to be lived in — an expression of refinement where beauty meets purpose in perfect balance.
Bathrooms —
A personal oasis
The bathrooms at Domaine are conceived as serene sanctuaries—places where daily ritual becomes indulgence. Elba stone, sourced through Artedomus, wraps each space in soft natural beauty. The craftsmanship is precise, the palette restrained, the atmosphere spa-like.
Expansive mirrors, bespoke joinery and architectural lighting work in harmony to create depth and warmth. Gunmetal fixtures are chosen as much for their performance as for their sculptural presence.
Here, light dances across stone texture and glass, offering a quiet, tactile luxury that endures long after trends pass. It is refinement expressed through restraint—pure, timeless, and deeply personal.
Location —
A place to call home
Nestled within South Yarra’s most coveted enclave—the Domain and Toorak Road precinct—Domaine presents a rare opportunity to reside in one of Melbourne’s most refined addresses. Here, tree-lined boulevards meet a world of cultivated amenity. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Fawkner Park, and the Yarra River all lie within effortless reach, offering an ever-changing backdrop of greenery and calm.
Stroll to Domain Road’s café culture, dine at acclaimed restaurants, or browse boutique stores that define Melbourne sophistication. The location is both tranquil and connected—a private oasis within the city’s cultural heart.
Moments from Melbourne’s finest schools, art galleries and transport, Domaine offers the enduring privilege of living where prestige and permanence are already established.
Arts & Culture Proximity —
Everything at your fingertips
Positioned at the nexus of Melbourne’s cultural spine, Domaine offers immediate access to the city’s celebrated Arts Precinct. The National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Theatre Company, and Hamer Hall are mere minutes away, while nearby galleries and design studios bring an ongoing sense of creative vitality to daily life.
This proximity to art, performance, and design enriches the experience of living here—offering inspiration, conversation, and connection. Whether attending an evening performance or wandering the gardens that frame these cultural landmarks, residents are constantly surrounded by the best of Melbourne’s creative energy, balanced by the serenity of their private enclave.
Cafés & Restaurants —
Choose your own adventure
Life at Domaine unfolds amid one of Melbourne’s most cultivated culinary landscapes. Just beyond your doorstep, mornings begin with the aroma of fresh espresso drifting from Domain Road and Toorak Road cafés — places where baristas know your name and time seems to move a little slower. Brunch beneath leafy canopies, or linger over a newspaper as the world passes by.
As day turns to evening, South Yarra reveals its more refined rhythm. Intimate wine bars glow with conversation, and celebrated restaurants offer cuisine that reflects the city’s creative pulse. Whether it’s a long lunch with friends, a quiet dinner after the theatre, or a spontaneous glass of wine nearby, everything feels effortlessly within reach.
From first light to late night, Domaine places you at the centre of Melbourne’s dining culture — not in the rush of it, but on its elegant fringe.
